MOC Timeframe Chart

The MOC process is designed to be completed in incremental stages throughout the 10-year cycle, as illustrated in the charts at the bottom of this page. While CME credits may be submitted at any time, the three components listed below are to be completed in order, within a specific timeframe over the MOC cycle:

  • ORR (online self-review of patient charts) once in years 3-4
    Available online, on-demand from February–December

  • Two PORTs (self-assessment tests) in years 5-7
    Available online, on-demand from February–December

  • DOCK (closed-book exam) once in years 8-10
September 1-30. Register online February–June 1. Late deadline August 1.

Please note: Diplomates are not eligible to register for the next MOC component until the previous requirement has been satisfied (ORR completion allows diplomates to move on to the PORTs. PORT completion allows diplomates to register for the DOCK).

The charts below illustrate the specific requirements for diplomates according to their current certification status:

The initial certification table below illustrates the requirements for diplomates currently in their first 10-year cycle. Diplomates must complete components in order, in the years designated.

Recertified diplomates (or diplomates who have already completed the MOC process at least once) must complete components in order, in the years designated below.
